Do you ever say that to yourself? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I start something . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . then think . . . . . . . . .
oh no it looks awful . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Then . . . . . . . . . . . . I have to give myself a good talking too . . . . . . . .
and usually somewhere amongst my telling myself this and that . . .
I say " Helen . . . . . . it's got to look worse before it looks better !!"
This border is a prime example . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
It edges our driveway . . . . . . . .
and its been riddled with ground elder ever since we planted it.
I have battled the ground elder for years . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . always loosing . . . so it's all got to go . . . . . !!
Enough is enough, I can't face another year of it. . . . . . . . .
So today we got a oil drum . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
And Mr Busy Bee . . . . . . . . . . he make fire . . . . . . . . . . .
(with the aid of modern technology . . . of course)
We got digging and burning, and clearing . . . . . . . .

Oh yes! Been there! But you'll be sooooo glad later that you did it! Personally I call such projects 'destructive gardening' and count thrm just as important as planting and weeding and all the genteel stuff...besides, I reckon there's a lot more sense of achievement to be had from a good binge of 'destructive gardening!'

Yes, ground elder is a real pain, I can empathise with that one.Oh and japanese knotweed, we had that at our old house and I think it was Alan Titchmarsh who said when asked what to do if you had it, Move house! Well we did move house but not to escape it!This garden is blighted by couch grass, a real pain.I keep digging as much up as I can. Your garden will be well worth the effort Helen, I'm sure.X

The worst part is starting so, you're almost there, right????
I always say, "you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs."
Best wishes!
